Tahko winter cycling
The Tahko winter cycling route starts next to the Tahkolaakso P-area, near the Huutavanholma gate. The path-like route meanders through the lovely Nallelaavu and continues near the base of the ski slopes towards the Nipasentie Safari House, from where the continuous circular route takes in the landscapes of Nipanen and Tarpisenmäki.
The total length of the route is approximately 13 km, but adding a section from Nipanen hut along Pehkuntie to Pehku and back, the total length becomes approximately 21.5 km. Without the 3 km Tarpisenmäki loop that offers stunning scenery, the route can also be completed as a 10 km loop.
The winter cycling route is a shared route, meaning it is also used by adventurers on foot and snowshoes.
- The winter cycling route is best suited for wide tires. Due to the lack of snow in the winter, the winter cycling route runs in some places in a different location than where it is marked on the map.
- The bike rental companies responsible for maintaining the route are Hill Ski Rent, Sähkis.fi, Tahko Safarit and SkiMac Tirol. You can always get the most up-to-date route information and tips from these companies. The route is maintained 1-2 times a week and as needed when the weather requires it.
- You can support the maintenance and development of the route by paying a voluntary route pool fee starting at 10€.
- In addition to the route in the middle of nature, the bike trip can be directed to, for example, Ilveslaavu, located about 6.5km from the center of Tahko, where you can ride smoothly along cycle paths.
